nice lodge bed in upstate new york

The Catskills region of New York has long been a sanctuary for New Yorkers who need a respite from the hustle and bustle of New York City life. In recent years, this special region has experienced a renaissance of hospitality, giving rise to a new breed of special boutique and luxury hotels in the Catskills.

These unique Catskills hotels blend the rustic charm of their natural surroundings with modern luxury, offering a personalized and intimate lodging experience. A number of these hotels are also in some of my favorite small towns in New York, which I strongly recommend visiting. These towns have many activities, hiking trails, dining options, and shops nearby.

4. Bellfire Farm ★

Different from other boutique hotels in the Catskills, Bellfire Farm is known for its glamping sites, off-grid cabins, and tiny house for relaxing between mountain adventures. The property is owned by an artist family who created four unique sites surrounded by forests, hiking trails, and wildflower fields.

When they say off-grid, they mean it – there’s no electrical outlets and running water. Also, there is no Wi-Fi, except from the parking lot. There are camping stoves and charcoal grills for cooking on-site, or guests can visit the town of Roxbury, about 10 minutes away for access to delicious restaurants.

Also nearby are activities such as the Rail Explorers Catskills and Kaaterskill Falls

Scribner’s Catskill Lodge has a warm ambiance with stunning contemporary suites and rooms that feature maple floors and bathrooms with walk-in rain shower. Most of these accommodations have floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces that offer a beautiful view of the mountains.

There’s a beautiful urban rustic restaurant/bar, a library, and a space for yoga sessions. Aside from the outdoor swimming pool, barrel sauna, and beautiful garden, meadow, and lawns, the place also has a seasonal ice skating rink. Hiking is by far one of the best things to do in Upstate New York, and Scribner’s location puts guests close to a variety of trails.

12. Piaule Catskills

If you’re looking for the perfect mix of nature and luxury, stay at Piaule Catskill, where modern design meets rustic charm. Each of their cozy cabins features not just the coziest bed but a glass wall that shows a unique view of the forest and mountains as well.
