II. La Romana, Dominican Republic – Best Resorts
La Romana region is located just an hour west of Punta Cana. This quieter region is most popularly home to the gated community, Casa de Campo, where local and international celebrities live. But also, natural wonders like Cueva de las Maravillas, Isla Saona, Isla Catalina, and the National Park of the East. The region’s most popular towns here are La Romana, Dominicus, and Bayahibe. 2. Catalonia Royal la Romana
Catalonia Royal la Romana is popular among couples and adult groups who are looking to stay in the Romana area. This resort is close to the trendiest spots, such as Bayahibe, with many shopping opportunities. The rooms are comfy with tropical modern decor.
Popular local attractions include Dye Fore Golf Club, La Romona Port, and East National Park for adventure seekers. This is a great resort for water sports like snorkeling, scuba diving, and kayaking.

3. Hilton La Romana All-Inclusive Adult Resort & Spa
Hilton La Romana Resort & Spa is a very high-end and trendy hotel in the providence of La Romana. The resort is in the heart of Bayhibe, with a tree-lined private beach, two outdoor infinity pools, a casino, and six restaurants serving global cuisine. All guest rooms are oversized for gatherings with concierge service. You can also book an excursion tour of the island’s historic sites.
III. Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic – Resorts
Puerto Plata province is home to Puerto Plata City, the third largest in the Dominican Republic. This colonial city and region are home to the legendary Pirates of the Caribbean. 4. Casa Colonial Beach and Spa ★
Casa Colonial Beach and Spa offers well-equipped suites for guests who want to kick back and relax, fixed with oversized tubs in most units. The hotel is elegantly decorated and feels private and secluded among jungle flora. There’s a really cool rooftop infinity pool and bar overlooking the Caribbean Sea. 5. Sea Horse Ranch Luxury Resort ★

The Ocean Club is a new beachfront resort with a private beach in Costa Norte. You can see the beautiful ocean views from the three pools, especially the beachside infinity pool. They have three restaurants featuring Mediterranean cuisine, 2 bars, and babysitting services for parents looking for a night out. There’s a winery on the grounds with a terrace and garden to enjoy. Coral Reef Casino is only a 10-minute walk.

IV. Rio San Juan, Dominican Republic – Resorts
Rio San Juan is a small city and region about an hour east of Cabarete. This low-profile destination is home to the most expensive hotel resort in the Dominican Republic. But more than that, it offers several natural wonders like Playa Caleton, Playa Grande, and Laguna Gri-Gri.
7. Amanera ★
Amanera is one of the most luxurious and exclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic, featuring elegant and tasteful minimalist decor. This is the resort you want if you’re looking for pure tranquility and relaxation. It backs right up to the jungle with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. It may be one of the most expensive hotels in the Dominican Republic, but it’s worth it!

The resort is fully staffed with 14 bedrooms and sits on its own peninsula overlooking the ocean. You’ll have beach and mountain views, and the staff here goes above and beyond. Guests can sign up for activities like cooking classes, hikes, cliff jumping, coral reef excursions, and more, making ANI great for families and groups of friends.
This is, hands down, the most expensive hotel in the Dominican Republic! So if you can’t afford to stay here, consider making a reservation at their restaurant to taste the experience!

V. Samana, Dominican Republic – Best Resorts
Samana is lush with jungles, virginal natural wonders, and beach towns around the entire peninsula. Although small, do not underestimate the attractions in Samana. Don’t miss a boat trip to some ofthe best beaches in the Dominican Republic, hiking through waterfalls like Limon, the seafood, and whale watching! The most popular towns here are: Las Galeras, Las Terrenas, Samana Town, and Fronton.

9. Sublime Samana Hotel & Residences ★

VI. Cap Cana, Punta Cana – Best Resorts
Cap Cana is where the highest luxury is in Punta Cana. This is also home to some of my favorite beaches in Punta Cana, Scape Park, and some of the best restaurants in Punta Cana! And on top of that? Cap Cana is in Southern Punta Cana, which means you’re closer to Santo Domingo or La Romana and all the other epic Punta Cana day trips around there.
11. Sanctuary Cap Cana Adults Only ★
Travelers looking for luxurious rooms will LOVE this resort. Sanctuary Cap Cana’s colonial architecture sets it apart from other modern resorts, offering various unique suites–some fixed with plunge pools inside the bedroom! VII. Uvero Alto, Punta Cana – Resorts
Uvero Alto is located in northern Punta Cana. This region offers closer proximity to the city of Higuey and off-the-beaten-path natural wonders like Macao Beach, Los Haitises National Park, Jalda Waterfall, Zumbador Waterfall, Miches, and Montana Redonda.
