My Full Review of Stagecoach Inn in Lake Placid: A Traditional Adirondack Experience

The Lake Placid Stagecoach Inn is a charming boutique bed-and-breakfast that welcomes you with open arms, a cozy ambiance, and rustic yet elegant decor. This historic hidden gem is a wonderful choice for those looking for a cabin-like feel but with a more comfortable and upscale experience. Staying here was a highlight experience for us during our Lake Placid adventures! It is simply one of the best places to stay in Lake Placid!

The History

Built in the 1700s, the Stagecoach Inn is the oldest building in Lake Placid! This makes it one of the most historic structures in the area. The Inn has kept much of the original wood from centuries ago!

Location Review of the Stagecoach Inn

The Stagecoach Inn is also perfectly located near all the main attractions of the Lake Placid surrounding the area. It is just under 5-10 minutes drive from downtown Lake Placid. And less than a 15-minute drive to Saranac Lake. Since it is situated away from all the busy areas, it is an ideal spot to relax away from the hustle and bustle.

Breakfast at the Inn

This is where I would eat my breakfast in the mornings!

The Stagecoach Inn knows how to pamper its guests with a complimentary breakfast that accompanies your stay. We loved the different but amazing and nutritious breakfast dishes every morning. The Stagecoach Inn truly outdoes itself with its food and beverage service.

We had dishes like frittatas, freshly baked blueberry muffins with a side of warm key lime cream, fresh fruits lightly drizzled in honey, yogurt, brioche french toast with poached eggs, and more. Every night I went to bed looking forward to the next morning for Donna’s amazing breakfast.

If you want to enjoy your breakfast from a more private setting, you can request room service or have it served at one of the terraces.

Please note: you must reserve your timeslot of breakfast with anticipation. So remember to inform your innkeeper ahead of time.

The Lake Placid Stagecoach Inn Restaurant

The Stagecoach Inn is, hands down, one of the best restaurants in Lake Placid and possibly in the Adirondacks region! The dishes are creative and outstanding, prepared with locally-sourced ingredients from the region. Chef Billy will transport you overseas with the special details and flavors of his dishes.

One of my favorite dishes was the Maple Glazed Salmon with hints of ginger served over rice as an entree. I don’t think I’ve tried better salmon at a restaurant! Also, I enjoyed their artisan cheese board featuring three different kinds of cheeses, fresh fruit, glazed onions, honey, and toasted bread; perfectly paired and balanced between salt and sweet. A must-try appetizer.

The best part is that you do not have to be a guest at the Stagecoach Inn to enjoy one of their amazing meals; the restaurant is open to the public. Sitting is by reservations only; call in advance to make your dinner reservations.

The Amenities at The Stagecoach Inn

The amenities play another big role in making your stay feel special. Whether you want to stay in and relax or you’re hoping to settle in after a long day of adventures, here are some things to do during your stay:

  • The Inn has board games from chess boards to scrabble and card games ideal for spending an afternoon or an evening bonding with friends and family.

  • Stagecoach Inn has a fully equipped bar offering craft cocktails, beer, and wine.
  • Enjoy a drink by the fireplace during the cold months or on the front porch during the warmer months.
  • It’s worth mentioning that your stay includes one complimentary alcoholic beverage per day.

The Rooms at the Stagecoach Inn

The rooms at the Stagecoach Inn are spacious and comfortable. The antique furnishings and warm tones make you feel like 1800s royalty. Different rooms will offer different amenities. Some rooms have fireplaces, others are suites for bigger families, and some have classic tubs! Our beds were very comfortable and snuggly.

The service at the Stagecoach Inn is exceptional. The staff is attentive and caring of guests’ needs. Donna, the Innkeeper, welcomes every guest with such warmness and kindness that it feels as if you’ve arrived home.

My experience with everyone here was very pleasant; the staff is accommodating and friendly. Since we were on a work trip, Donna always understood our schedule changes and was helpful. She made our stay extra special.

Winter or Summer at the Stage Coach Inn?

Whether you’re coming during summer or winter, staying at the Stagecoach Inn is a classic Adirondack-American experience. Year-round, the antique furnishing features hints of Christmas with subtle festive decorations and scents like apple cinnamon and pine candles. So I can’t imagine how magical it must be to spend the winter here when they take out the Christmas decorations! We loved our stay here in the summer and hope to experience it in the winter next time.
