Cap Cana is my personal favorite for luxury in Punta Cana. This is also home to some of my favorite beaches in Punta Cana, Scape Park, and some of the best restaurants in Punta Cana like La Yola! And on top of that? Cap Cana is in Southern Punta Cana, which means you’re closer to the airport, Ojos Indigenas, Santo Domingo, La Romana and all the other epic Punta Cana day trips around there.
1. Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana
Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana is a beautiful family resort known for its thrilling water park and adventure. There’s a mix of activities for everyone, from high-end relaxation services, including beach massages and an amazing spa, or waterslides and a kids camp for younger guests. The resort’s private beach is right on the popular Juanillo Beach, and you can book deep-sea fishing excursions right offshore.

We love this high-end gem, only a 70-minute drive from the Punta Cana International Airport. Tortuga Bay Hotel Punta Cana Resort was listed as a member of the Leading Hotels of the World and in the edition of 2021 Travel + Leisure 500. The hotel was designed by the late Oscar de le Renta and is unlike most other Caribbean resorts. Guests have access to the La Cana Golf Course onsite, which is a 1-minute walk from Punta Cana Beach.

9. The Westin Punta Cana Resort and Spa
The Westin Punta Cana Resort offers La Cana Golf Course and Six Senses Spa (one of the best spas in Punta Cana). This resort is not all-inclusive, but its location makes it easy for all sorts of excursions. The hotel is near Los Establos Cap Cana, where you can sign up for horseback riding lessons. BlueMall Punta Cana in downtown Punta Cana is a wonderful place to shop.
MACAO & Uvero Alto, Punta Cana
The Macao and Uvero Alto regions are in northern Punta Cana, about 45 minutes north of the airport and one hour from Cap Cana. I don’t recommend this region if you’re hoping to explore Punta Cana’s wonderful attractions like Scape Park and Ojos Indigenas. But if you just want to stay inside the resort or prefer quiet nature, then this area may be best suited for you.
10. Excellence El Carmen Punta Cana ★
Excellence El Carmen Punta Cana is one of the best luxury resorts in the Dominican Republic, with fantastic suites featuring plunge pools, private terraces, and a lounge area. Shoppers will love this resort–it’s connected to a shopping center! Bahia Principe Luxury Ámbar is an adults-only resort with amazing amenities, including a nightclub, spa, and free bicycle rentals. There are many opportunities to explore beach and water activities like beach yoga, sailing, and scuba diving. It’s close to a ton of attractions, including three golf courses, Casino Diamante Punta Cana Grand, and Arena Gorda Beach.

The suites here are spacious and have options for indoor and outdoor jacuzzis and pool access. Majestic Colonia Punta Cana is next to a golf course with a private beach and offers spectacular boat tours exploring the area. Nearby, guests can book ziplining adventures and ecotours.
18. Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana
Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana has fantastic views of the ocean or pool area. Guests have free water park entry and access to several beach amenities (beach bar, sun loungers, swim-up bar). Bordeaux, the delicious onsite restaurant, offers French cuisine unique to most restaurants in the area.
19. Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa
Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa is a remote paradise next to Breathless Punta Cana. The resort is split between 800 luxury private rooms and a larger section for families and groups with connecting rooms and two-bedroom suites. Families will enjoy the choice of six swimming pools featuring exciting water slides and will never run out of food choices with unlimited á la cart dining, more than two dozen on-site restaurants, and top-shelf beverages.
Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort Spa and Casino
This resort has the best of both worlds for adults and children. Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort Spa and Casino. For the adults, the resort has casino access, outdoor jacuzzis, and a full-service spa. The kids will enjoy the awesome water park with several pools and slides to explore.
20. Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana
Snorkeling, swimming adventures, and fishing are big amenities at Margaritaville Island Reserve, along with all the typical private beach amenities. The decor of this resort is more fun and lively than luxurious compared to other Punta Cana Resorts. This is another resort part of the Majestic Complex, with a beautiful beach on an incredible strip of the Punta Cana coastline. Majestic Colonial Punta Cana suites are spacious, with all amenities, and include indoor or outdoor jacuzzi options. Groups, couples, and families will all find something they love here, and there are tons of opportunities to tour and explore the area.
23. Majestic Mirage Punta Cana
The suites at this resort are some of the most luxurious in the Dominican Republic, with options for outdoor jacuzzis, swim-up suites, and rooftop suites. Majestic Mirage is set on a white sand beach, offering free beach cabanas and a beach bar to relax in the sun. Book yourself a windsurfing or kayaking trip to enjoy all the beach has to offer. You must spend some time at the spa and try hydrotherapy or a deep tissue massage.
