Lake Placid is a dreamy town is surrounded by mountains and lakes. What else can you ask for? And it's a year-round destination! Win-win.
In this guide, I will walk you through the things to do in Lake Placid for every season!
1
Beginners and experienced snowmobile riders will love the endless trails in the Lake Placid area. Just plan ahead of time to avoid overly crowded routes and watch for parking restrictions!
2
The 5th highest mountain in New York State! Be sure to wear your hiking boots since the trail can get steep. But you can also use the elevator!
3
An easy walk at High Falls Gorge will reward you with breathtaking views of roaring falls on the granite cliffs. The trail takes only about half an hour and is very accessible!
4
Ausable Chasm, in Keeseville, offers hikes where you’ll pass by Hydes Cave, Column Rock, Elephant Head, and the Rainbow Falls. You can even join a tubing or rafting tour after the hike!
5
The countless hiking trails across the Adirondack Park bring great opportunities for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Some of my recommendations include Mt. Van Hoevenberg and VIC Center!
6
A visit to the John Brown Farm is a destination for history lovers! Here you will learn about the central figures and history of abolitionism in this region.
7
Breweries in Lake Placid is something you should not miss out on! I recommend Ray Brook Brewhouse, which is my favorite!
